Via Paul Kedrosky (I love following his Twitter feed) comes the interesting piece of news that Google has made an investment in 23andMe. 23andMe is interesting for a bunch of reasons, none probably more so than the their co-founder Ann Wojcicki, who recently tied the knot with Sergey Brin. 23andMe, as Attila says, seems to be a perfect synergy of infotech and biotech, but I don’t know enough about the company to say any more. Personal genetics is always a bit of a touchy subject. Would I like to learn more? Absolutely. Perhaps Ann will be there at Scifoo 2007.
I doubt Google does too much anywhere where it doesn't plan to win. I am still in a wait and see mode. Healthcare information I think they can handle. Molecular information is something else altogether.
Don't think so. They are not going to do this in a hurry. They are definitely going to do something in healthcare information. And there I am pretty sure they will be fine.
