For Wikipedia and Firefox users
January 16, 2007
Techcruch has an excellent post about Wikiseek, a search engine around Wikipedia which also includes a couple of Firefox addons (a search plugin and an extension)
Here are examples of the same search using the Wikipedia search engine and the Wikiseek engine (searching for “CHARMM”, one of the few entries I’ve actually contributed to). Wikipedia returns one single entry, while Wikiseek lists other entries in Wikipedia with “CHARMM” in them (accurately too) as well as web results.
There is also a discussion on Techmeme. People are not quite happy with the performance of the search engine, and as someone pointed out, one could probably Google Co-op to achieve similar results
