Hack away

Kluster never lived up to the hopes I had for it, but perhaps we have a new place for the Biogang to throw out projects. Clusterify is a new site, found via Hacker News, that essentially targets developers who want to work on small projects together. In other words, classic bursty work.

The site seems to take some design tips from Stack Overflow, whose design I do like quite a bit. The site is still very young, so will change rapidly from the looks of it. Here’s how the creators think about it

Clusterify is a better way to meet other programmers working with the same technologies you are. Open source projects are great, but they usually require large investments of time. The idea here is to keep it short, just a couple hours per project.

As of today projects have the following stages

  1. Propose an idea (and tag it)
  2. People can then join projects they find exciting. They can post questions or comments on the projects
  3. All participants, based on a discussion, agree on a date and time to work on the project, what tools will be used, etc.
  4. Once you’re done, the author can mark the project as completed

There is also idea voting, and other concepts

Will be keeping an eye on this. With Github, etc, lots of resources for coders/hackers these days.

My favorite front page idea (at this time) is The Singularity

I plan to develop the Singularity using Web 2.0 technologies. Once I’ve developed it, I will spread it virally over the internets. If you know LAMP and are skilled with Microsoft FrontPage, join me, and together we will build the future of humanity.

In case you haven’t figured out, I jest.
