Blog is back up – New theme, etc

Hi folks

As you may have noticed, I have a new theme up at bbgm, Revolution. Will take me a few days to work out the kinks, but as you can see, the blog now has a landing page with an emphasis on video and regular columns (the three topics I plan to stick to in 2008). In other words I am making bbgm a little less bloggy and more of a website. Should have everything up and running smoothly in a few days, but the feeds, etc should be working fine.

Comments, etc are always welcome on the new look. It’s quite a drastic change, but I do have plans down the road which fit this change.

See you in 2008

  • one solution to the three categories going below the screen (my first comment) is to reduce the sidebar text. may be 5 posts in the recent posts ...

    Thanks for the feedback.

The font spacing looks OK on my browser. I can play with the size, but I like the 14pt font on the front page.

Will keep playing with the stylesheet though. Ive made so many little changes, it's very possible that there could be issues.

As for the structure, I will play with it a little bit, esp what's written, etc, but in a while you'll figure out why I chose Revolution. It's pretty obvious that I am moving away from making bbgm a pure blog. Looking at my stats, regular readers always access it via RSS or via a direct link.
  • and one more minor thing (just wanted to check in one more computer before commenting):

kindly take a look at the font-spacing for the main item in the main page. the font size there is bigger (than in the rests of the posts and items) and looks very squeezed and doesn't give the text in the main page a healthy look. may be the font spacing should be increased there or the font size reduced to the default...

    Cheers,
    Arunn
  • Deepak: different theme. At last, the restless soul stirred in you.

    Some immediate minor things:

    1) the second row of links on the header, when hovered over when in the title page, shows a pull down menu whose background grey is very light and so the menu text is hard to read as the background page text also shows up. the gray in this pull down menu gets darker once viewed in other pages.

    2) may be the three topics that you want to write more on, links to which are now in the bottom of the main page, could somehow be accommodated somewhere in the top as one of the main links. May be the intro. can be reduced with a link to another page where you can write all those things...

    Cheers,
    Arunn
  • Coolio. I am pretty convinced about the worthiness of this theme.
  • It looks great! :)

    New year, new concept?
