Around the web – November 4, 2007

Have been so busy that didn’t even bother with an “around the web” last week. Did manage to get a lot of good work done and continued slow progress towards getting my study/studio/dev environment up and running (in reality it’ll only be done by the end of the year, when I take a week or so off to do just that).

Anyway, I started screencasting on the new rig. I must say that Jing is so convenient. Reminds me of SnagIt (just the best screen capture software) in a way. Sits on your desktop. When you are ready just click go and you’re all set. You will soon start seeing screencasting incorporated even more into my video presence and of course screencasts being posted to Bioscreencast as I get more and more into any science projects.

Anyway, what was I doing around the web last week.

On TechBizMedia, I blogged about Google and OpenSocial. Some of those thoughts are in the video below

Talking about Kyte, by now you know that it is a key part of my online presence. There are two channels of relevance. The one that you see on this blog, and a new one where you get to hear random riffs. Still a little bare there.

In addition, my post on feature extraction got the Peter Murray-Rust treatment, and Mike Treder at Responsible Nanotechnology noticed my posts on hype and naysayers

By the way, I plan to be at the science blogging conference in North Carolina in January. Haven’t booked tickets there, but it will be good to see some Scifoo-campers again as well as some other people I have always wanted to meet.
