CoScripter looks very cool

I first heard about CoScripter from Nat Torkington and shortly thereafter read this great post by Jon Udell (a fabulous follow up post is also worth a look). Like Ricardo, I would love to see some applications beyond the ones we have seen out there. Time to do some digging when I get the time, although looks like Pierre already has a headstart.

To me CoScripter is another example of a trend that has been around for a while, but with improved mechanisms as time goes on. Just like we used to write Perl scripts to automate and glue together routine tasks, and now often use workflow or data pipelining software to do the same, but in a more visual way, CoScripter is a way of taking the macro found in a number of desktop applications to the web. The principle remains the same; taking a set of tasks done often and repeatedly and automating them. The recording approach is one that really appeals to me, especially if one can go back in and edit after the fact

Now if only one did not have to go through that darn sign up process. IBM does some cool stuff, but they always make it a little bit harder to access than it needs to be. ManyEyes falls into the same category; really cool, but not the easiest thing to get to.
