A new journal blog

The Seven Stones is the name of the new blog for the journal Molecular Systems Biology, an open access journal published by Nature Publishing Group and EMBO. For many of us in the bioinformatics blogging community, one of the people involved should be a familiar name, none other than Pedro Beltrao.

Blogs from science publishers are not unknown. Nature has a number of blogs, some of which I read, although the one I read most regular, Nascent could use a better CMS. MSB covers a subject that is a bbgm favorite, systems biology, and already has some rather interesting articles. To me one of the biggest advantages of a blog associated with a journal is the ability to discuss journal content and relevant scientific content. What the blog shouldn’t be is a regurgitation of the journal contents. Right now, the comments on the journal site are thin (Nascent has lots of comments which is nice), so I encourage systems biology/bioinformatics types and anyone else to visit and please, if you like what you read, engage in the conversation.

Update: Pedro blogs about his experience at Nodalpoint

Thanks for the link and for encouraging interactions! I’ll try my best to make our blog a scientific discussion platform rather than a mirror site of the journal.
