So Mindcamp is over, for me at least. I could not attend the entire event for personal reasons, but did manage to attend most of the event, and I will be back, and perhaps even lead a session or two. Andru and company did a great job. Managed to make some acquaintances, listen to some interesting ideas, and get involved in the local tech community, something I hope to do more actively in the months to come and time permitting. However, don’t count on me to participate in a ten hour session of Werewolf. There are already a bunch of posts out on the blogosphere, pictures on flickr, etc. I will update this post as more sources show up.
The last event I attended was covered the topic of screencasting. It was an informal discussion led by Bryan Zug. Screencasts are a wonderful tool, and in my opinion, are among the best ways to demonstrate a software product. There were a few people in the audience who have had some success with screencasts. The best example came from a guy who said that his family had never quite understood what he did, so he chose the screencast route, adding voice to his activities. That worked wonders. Some tools that came up at the session Adobe Captivate Camtasia Studio Camstudio – one of the better freeware tools Adobe Soundbooth, which I should probably get my hands on Gawker. This is the tool that the person used to show his family what he did.
The other take away message was that 320×240 is a good size for blogs and ipods. Had never really given that any thought.
